As you travel in the land of East Africa you will see agricultural activities all over the place. From the coffee fields of Uganda and Kenya to the sugar belts of Western Kenya and the banana fields in Uganda, the cashew nuts and palm trees at the coasts of Kenya and Tanzania to the flower and tea farms in Naivasha and Kericho in Kenya. The dairy farms in Limuru, the Masai cattle in Masai land, the long horned Ankole cattle in Uganda, the camels and goats in the northern Kenya, the fish farms in central Kenya and the local traditional cattle in the Luo land add a lot to the Agro industry in East Africa.

Victoria Agro Tourism Special - 4 Days
Day 1 Kisumu City
Tour
Arrive into Kisumu from Nairobi in the morning by Flight or
by road. Check into Imperial hotel and have a tour briefing from our tour
guide. The day is spent by being taken to a Kisumu tour excursion. Lunch and
Dinner at Imperial Hotel.
Day 2 Kisumu - Chemelil
- Ahero
After breakfast visit the sugar belts of Miwani, Chemelil
and Muhoroni where you will be taken to various sugar factories in the area and
the local out growers companies within the sugar belt. Tour the Lake Basin Fish
Farm in Miwani. Lunch at Chemelil company members club. After lunch visit the
Rice irrigation scheme at Ahero on your way back to Kisumu. Meet the local
farmers and tour the rice fields and the Rice Milling Factory. Dinner at
Imperial Hotel.
Day 3 Kisumu - Maseno
- Dominion Farm
After breakfast, you will be driven to Maseno where you will
tour the Agricultural Research centre. Here you will tour the Dairy farm, the
crop research center, the Bull rearing and artificial insemination centre. Tour
the Agro forestry research center before proceeding to the Dominion Farm in
Siaya. Visit a homestead of a local Peasant farmer in Siaya rearing local
cattle, see Oxen plough in action as you proceed for lunch at Siaya Mwalimu
Hotel. After Lunch, tour the Dominion farm, chat with the farm management and
workers. Visit the local peasant farmers and a local Dairy Farm. Drive back to
Kisumu via Bondo Kisumu Road, on the way Tour the Apoda Farm at Bar Opuk in
Bondo. Dinner at Imperial Hotel.
Day 4 Kisumu - Kisii
After breakfast, check out and be driven to Kisii Coffee,
Tea and Banana plantations where you will meet the farmers and visit the Local
tea processing factory and Dairy farm. Lunch is taken at Kisii Hotel. After
Lunch on the way back to Kisumu city, tour the Kasipul Kabondo pineapple farms,
organic grown sweet potato farms and the Maize farms. You will arrive in Kisumu
city early enough for the evening flight to Nairobi.

-Sugar Belt Excursion - Full
Day
Itinerary
This tour takes you to the heart of sugar plantations within
reach from Kisumu city. You will be able to meet the management of sugar
factories and the farmers as they encounter their daily activities in the
sugarcane plantations.
This tour starts at Kisumu city in the morning then proceed
to Miwani sugar company (this is the first white sugar producing company in
Kenya). You will be able to see the old ancient technology still in use though
aged and dilapidated but still in production. You will then meet the local
farmers who will tell you stories about sugarcane production.
The journey proceeds into Chemelil Sugar Company complex
where you will meet the management before having a walk into the modern sugar
factory to see the whole process of sugar production. You will visit the
Chemelil Academy, the local primary school, the workers estates before having
Lunch at the famous Chemelil members club.
After Lunch proceed to Muhoroni Sugar Company. On the way
see the vast sugar plantations and the Nandi Hills. On reaching the Muhoroni
Sugar Company, tour the factory then meet the farm workers in the fields.
Adjacent to the sugar factory, visit the famous Agro Chemical Food Co. Factory
is famous in the production of power alcohol, yeast, spirits and other
by-products from Molasses. (Molasses is a by-product from refined sugar
production).
End your tour by returning to Kisumu city Via Nairobi-Kisumu
road, pass through Ahero back to Kisumu city.

Victoria Rural Agritourism Special
This tour will basically take you to the Peasant farmers whose
livelihood depends on farming around Lake Victoria. These include Crop, Dairy,
Fishing and animal farming.
Itinerary
Day 1 Kisumu - Seme
location
You will be met at your destination at Kisumu and be taken
to a farm on the bank of Lake Victoria in Seme location. Tour the farm before
and see Oxen plough in action before Having Lunch in the homestead. In the
afternoon visit a dairy farm and see the local Dairy farm with Grade cows Zero
grazing. Proceed to Dinner and an overnight stay at Kisumu Hotel.
Day 2 Kisumu - Gem
Location
Leave Kisumu in the morning after breakfast for Yala in Gem
Location. Visit James Rading's home in Nyamninia and see how a widowed mother
handles her daily farming activities which include Local chicken farming, Local
cattle farming, crop farming and Fish farming. See the Banana Plantation and an
upcoming Tree Plantation. Lunch in the homestead. In the afternoon, visit the
millennium Farming projects within the region before returning back to Kisumu.
Proceed to Dinner and an overnight stay at Kisumu Hotel.
Day 3 Kisumu - Alego
Siaya
Leave Kisumu in the morning after breakfast for Ulafu in
East Alego Location. Visit Gilbert Adongo's home and see the Oxen Plough in
action on the local peasant Farm. Visit the other homesteads and see how the
other women groups tend their farms. Chicken farming in the homesteads is quite
admirable. Lunch is taken at the homestead. In the afternoon, visit the
Dominion Farm in Yala swamp and see the Farming activities within the swamp.
Return to Kisumu for Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Kisumu - Asembo
Kamito
Leave Kisumu in the morning after breakfast for Asembo Bay.
Visit the home of a Local peasant and see the irrigation farming of vegetables
along Lake Victoria. Goat farming and cattle rearing in Asembo Kamito are the
main occupation of the peasant farmers. Lunch is taken at the homestead. In the
afternoon, visit Luanda Kotieno and see the Farming activities by the Lake
shore. If time allows, take a ferry across the gulf to Mbita. Proceed to Dinner
and an overnight at Lake Victoria safari village.
Day 5 Mbita - Kendu
Bay-Kisumu
After breakfast, visit ICIPE before proceeding to Homa Bay
then to Kendu bay. On the way visit the homestead of Mzee Mwalimu Kabasa in
Pala - Kendu bay and see the farming activities in and around the homestead.
See the ground nut farming, Goats and cattle farming. Lunch at the homestead.
In the afternoon, proceed to Kisumu, passing through the Rice scheme at Ahero,
visiting the Rice farms, the rice milling factory before reaching Kisumu.
